My name is Adi Hayble and I am a screenwriter with a very special love for teen comedy. Following secondary school, I was accepted into the prestigious BRIT School where I studied Musical Theatre, after which I attended university at The New School in Manhattan, New York. My degree is in Dramatic Arts with a minor in Screenwriting and it was officially conferred just a handful of days ago, though current global circumstances have meant that I‘ve been back home and isolated in London since early March. 3 of my 4 years of university were spent working full-time as a Resident Advisor in one of the university’s two freshman dorms, providing round-the-clock care and support to the large first-year population on campus. Vigorous trainings twice each year prepared me for any and every crisis, and with every shift as an RA taking place overnight, I am no stranger to being on-call and responsible for ensuring the safety, happiness and wellbeing of the people (all 250+ of them) that share their home with me. Live-in care is an incredibly unique type of work and I love it because it supports my values both as an empathetic & compassionate person, and as a writer who only ever wishes to write from these places. Authentic humanity means a lot to me and I’ve found that this line of work allows me to live out empathy and extend beyond my concern of self every day. I’ve been told I take to 3am phone calls like no other and I’ve escorted enough drunk residents to the hospital to be able to confidently share the quote that I’m “pretty cool.”
