Live In Carer/Companion

Seeking a kind, outgoing and tech-savvy live-in carer to support M, 50’s in and outside of his home where he lives with his wife and 20-year-old son.

M50 had an Ischemic Stroke late last year and will be coming home from rehabilitation in early June. You will provide care but most importantly companionship for M50 in what will be a rewarding & enjoyable role in South West London.

Accommodation: Double Bedroom on 1st floor with private sitting room in large 2 storey home. Separate toilet and shower room which will be mostly sole use and only shared on occasion with guests or the families two adult children who stay on the 1st floor when they are visiting home.

Salary: £35,000 - £50,000 (pro-rata) gross

Hours: Contracted 50-55 hours per week for 6 months, 4 evenings/nights per week will be required with 1 - 2 weekends off per month, all of which will be agreed upon in advance.

Some flexibility is required as the family understands exactly what hours and support is required. You will be required to stay at the family home overnight throughout the week unless agreed in advance or on your weekend(s) off.

Pets: One small, friendly Cockapoo (hypoallergenic) aged 5

Essential Skills & Traits:

• Full clean driving license (experience driving an adapted vehicle is a bonus)
• Great sense of humour
• Willingness/ability to travel with the family on holidays outside of the UK
• Experience with personal care
• Technology literate and enjoyment of using tech/gadgets
• Patient, positive and personable attitude
• Discreet and unobtrusive
• Fluent English Speaker

Duties Include:

• Preparing healthy, low salt meals
• Aiding M50’s with bathing, dressing and his general self-care
• Driving M50’s to appointments and out on day trips
• Making sure M50’s is carrying out his exercises and encouraging developmental activities
• Keeping him company during the evenings and ensuring he is safe
• Helping M50’s to become more independent and self-sufficient
• Light cleaning duties relating to M50’s i.e stripping his bed and cleaning sheets, putting his dishes in the dishwasher etc.

This is a lovely opportunity that could become long term for the right candidate. This could be a great position for a mature student to take on around their studies and also offers travel opportunities.
